Happy Birthday to You - Royalties?

I was listening to the Engadget Podcast 102, where it was mentioned that the song “Happy Birthday”, the most popular song in the English language, cannot be broadcasted without royalties being paid to “someone”. That “someone” turns out to be Warner Chappell Music, but according to Wikipedia, the current copyright status is unclear. Can you believe they paid $15 million for the copyright in 1990?

Amazing, eh? If you don’t know the lyrics, here’s a link to the Warner Chappell Music site which shows the lyrics (I won’t copy/paste it here in case I have to pay royalties).
