Twitter.com - SMS Status Updates

Just a quick post here, I swear. Thanks to Simon Hammond, I bumped into a website called Twitter.com (here’s a link to my page). It’s a site where users can post one sentence summaries about themselves, like “I’m bored and want to watch a movie”, or “I’m not single anymore”. The different to Facebook’s status feature is that you can SMS your status to their servers. Having said that, I’m still waiting for my activation code so that I can use this feature. The powerful thing is that your friends are notified of your status whenever it changes. That means it’s much more up-to-date than if you use Facebook, so you can say “I need a drinking partner. NOW“, and you might have a better chance of getting a reply.

Of course, the worst thing about this site is that you have to sign up for yet another account… and get all your friends to join. *SIGH, I’m getting a bit tired of all that? Maybe there’s a way of ending it all.. and I’m not talking about Microsoft’s Passport service. We need something more open. Actually there IS one, and it’s called Open ID. Let’s blog about that another time.

Yet another online identity to add to my Claim ID site
